A journey to the heart of Provence: Gordes and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse
Gordes is the gem of the Luberon valley. After taking a look at the city view photo, many people immediately want to go there and see it. There is something romantic about Gordes. The city is full of life and colors. One can see the Gordes streets in A Good Year, a 2006 film directed and produced by Ridley Scott.
There is another beautiful and interesting village located near Gordes. Its name is Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The source of the river Sorgue is located here. The source is a 315 m deep karst spring, which is the deepest in the world. In addition to its unique natural sites, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is interesting as a place where Petrarch, Georges de Scudéry, Frédéric Mistral, Chateaubriand, Mirabeau, and René Char lived, visited, and mentioned in their works.
